A Russian extremist group has denied responsibility for a wave of hoax bomb threats that disrupted dozens of flights across Europe this week. According to BBC World, scores of flights received bomb threats, but no explosives have been found so far. The threats left travelers frustrated at airports in Rome, Madrid and Warsaw, with many more frustrated than fearful, the New York Times reported. In France, an Aer Lingus flight was diverted to Évreux after a bomb alert, and passengers were bused to Roissy to continue their journey to Rome, according to France24. RFI reported that European air traffic was again heavily disrupted by false bomb alerts on Friday, with a Ryanair flight from Lisbon to Rome among those targeted, and an investigation is under way.
